D12, otherwise known as The Dirty Dozen is a hip hop collective from Detroit, Michigan thatbecame famous when one of its members Eminem achieved stardom with the release of “The Slim Shady LP” in 1999. Eminem did not forget the group once his solo career took off and signed D12 as the first group for his own label Shady Records.

One fateful day D12 group member Bugz was involved in an argument at a picnic and was shot three times and killed. Eminem stood in forBugs for a while to help D12 put on some shows, but this led to him eventually becoming a member of the group again. D12 recorded the song “The Good Die Young” on their album “D12 World” in Bugs’ memory, Bugs was also memorialized on Eminem’s second album,”The Marshall Mathers LP”.

The success of D12 was sealed when in 2001 their first album “Devil’s Night” hit the number one slot on the Billboard charts. And, their success was solidified when “D12 World” as their second album debuted as number one on the Billboard charts in 2004. Even so, D12 continued on in the shadow of Eminem’s success and fame as he persisted in having a hand in their projects. The tour for the second album “D12 World” was executed entirely without Eminem, in part, so D12 could show they could be successful independent of Eminem, but as it happens Eminem was busy working on his album “Encore”.

Plans for the new album were put on hold with the death of Proof. The 2009 tour should bring news of the new album. d12 is managed by Jeremy Geffen.Jeremy Geffen represents D12.|Jeremy Geffen Entertainment handles management duties for D12.
