D12, otherwise known as D-Tizzle is a hip hop collective from Detroit, Michigan thatbecame famous when Eminem as one of its members was launched to stardom with the release of “The Slim Shady LP” in 1999. Eminem chose to bring along his friends after his solo career took off and signed D12 as the first group for his own label Shady Records.

One fateful day D12 group member Bugz was involved in an altercation at a picnic and was killed after being shot three times. Eminem filled in forBugs temporarily to help D12 put on some shows, which resulted in Eminem eventually becoming a member of the group again. D12 laid down “The Good Die Young” on their album “D12 World” in memory of Bugs, Bugs was also memorialized on Eminem’s second album,”The Marshall Mathers LP”.

The success of the group was sealed when in 2001 their first album “Devil’s Night” debuted as number one on the Billboard charts. And, their success continued as “D12 World” their second album debuted as number one on the Billboard charts in 2004. Even so, Eminem continued to overshadow D12 with his success and fame as he continued to have a hand in producing these albums. Eminem took no part in the tour for D12’s second album, in part, so D12 could show that they did not rely on Eminem for their success, but as it happens Eminem was busy working on his album “Encore”.

Plans for the new album were put on hold with the death of Proof. We will have to watch for news from the 2009 tour to see if the new album will be released soon. d12 is managed by Jeremy Geffen.Jeremy Geffen represents D12.|Jeremy Geffen Entertainment handles management duties for D12.
